After completing Bachelor of Technology from National Institute of Technology Kurukshetra, I started working in Information Technology Sector. It has been 5 years that I am doing Software Development. My expertise lies in doing server side development in java.
Before joining Xebia, I worked for two good companies. I worked mainly in finance domain, building a critical application for Citibank. I wanted to work for an growing organization that can help me maintain the balance between working, learning and sharing. Xebia provides the agile environment where professional are not treated as pluggable resources but as individual. This makes Xebia a true Agile Organization (Individuals and interactions over processes and tools). Working at Xebia means continuous improvement where you learn from others, share with others and communicating a lot.
The thing that I found exciting at Xebia is that it provides a platform where you can grow as a professional. Working at Xebia, I will be working on building myself as a better professional by blogging, attending and speaking at conferences. This will help me to gain visibility in software community.
I started of my career journey with Headstrong India Pvt. Ltd., located in Noida and was associated with it for around 3 years.
Going back my college days, I reckon, Java programming was the subject that always allured me and I was lucky to get the right opportunity to mould my dreams into reality. During my tenure with previous organization, I got exposure to technologies like Flex, J2EE, Oracle and also experience in data migration from Legacy system to ERP systems, writing stored procedures and queries that helped in generating company's monthly financial reports.
I mean to say, I had everything, I ever dreamed about and was quite happy with it, UNTIL, I made a decision to change, and it was all of a sudden I decided to go off, and finally, after a mind jolting process of frequent interviews and negotiations on numbers. I joined Xebia IT Architects India Private Limited, Gurgaon.
What to say, about my decision of choosing Xebia out of the pool, it’s been wonderful.
My career is on all time high statistics, it is blooming. It’s fun working here with people and processes together, in simple words on AGILE.
I know and I am glad that I am trudging in the right direction with a brand name like Xebia in my bag and look forward towards the professional growth of both by putting my sincere efforts together with all hard work.
I am Vandana and have been working with Xebia from June 2008. Though I hold a Masters of Arts degree and Diploma in Office Management, I have versatile experiences in Merchandising, HR & Administration, Facilities and I am thankful to Xebia for giving me an opportunity to explore Public Relations. I came into Xebia with no high hopes but the culture and dynamic team what Xebia has, made me think to do something different and more to explore myself. Xebia has not only given me a platform to understand the meaning of Agile, learning at every stage with fantabulous people, sharing knowledge, motivation through employee reward and recognition program but also a place to work with fun where people are fairly given time to freshen up with outdoor activities like Xebia Family day, Xebia Sports day, Xebia Happy Hours and the most awaited offsite trip SKIBIA.
With such high learning scope, I am keeping myself open to all the opportunities which would connect my network with different people, understand the IT world even more from conferences and seminars, elevate public relations religiously and looking forward to assist everyone to serve the organization in best possible way.
I have always been fond of travelling and exploring. This was probably one of the main reasons to come and work in India when Xebia offered me that opportunity. Since then, I’ve enjoyed both the rich and diverse culture of India and the dynamic and interesting work environment that Xebia India offers.
My main professional driver is delivering absolute quality to clients and colleagues. For me quality is important in every aspect, from code quality to good communication and on-time delivery. When working with a team, I try to focus on quality, team work and technology in equal measures. Xebia is the first Company I work for, where quality has so much focus. In addition, it has a great team; All my colleagues are very tech-savvy people with a critical attitude towards their own work and the work of others. It energizes and stimulates me to give my best in such an environment.
Since I like to work directly with code and love exploring new technologies, I suppose I’ll keep my focus on developing software in the years to come. After moving back to Netherlands, I might focus on the projects that Xebia Netherlands does in close collaboration with Xebia India. This might mean moving away from the code and more towards requirements and business analysis, but my hope is to always be able to open up an editor and start working on the great code that my team develops!
Xebia is from where I stepped into the corporate world. Prior to joining Xebia, I pursued Masters in computer science from University of southern california, Los Angeles. My Bachleors in computer science was fascinating and motivated me to pursue masters in computer science. I focussed in the field of Artifical Intelligence, natural language processing during my Master's degree. At Xebia, I work as a software developer and also manage the network infrastructure of the company. Xebia blends challenging work with fun and hence I look forward to coming to work each day. I am glad that "agility" has become my second nature. Work at Xebia has been a learning experience and I look forward for further professional development and growth with each passing day at Xebia.
I have over 10 years of mistakes and successes in software engineering. My areas of expertise are enterprise application integration and messaging. I aims to develop simple solutions for complex problems. Prior to Xebia, I was a part of the founding engineering team at the startup Sonoa Systems, where I designed and built the messaging backbone to handle the orchestration and the routing of the JMS traffic inside the xml appliance. Prior to Sonoa, I was a part of the team that developed the Application Oriented Networking Systems for Cisco routers. I did 5 year Integrated M.Tech. from IIT Delhi.
My primary motive of joining Xebia was to work in an environment that is modeled upon agile principals. I say that Xebia is one of those few companies in India, where you can continue to be hands on with designing and coding irrespective of the number of years of experience you have. There is a general misconception that agile is light weight and so it is easy. Agile would just expose the weaknesses early, but to fix them, agile can’t do the magic. You need to have very strong software craftsmanship skills to fix those issues. Xebia is the place for those who aspire to become a software craftsman and not just a software engineer. My aim is to acquire the skills that would help me to become a successful Product Owner in my career down the line.
It's already been more than 3 months with Xebia and I realized it today as I sat down to write about my journey. That's been the story so far; time just flies as you work, learn, share and grow alongside a bunch of excellent people who are always ready to lend a helping hand when required.
I am Rajneesh and I am presently working as a senior Consultant with Xebia India. I have 6 years of experience in software testing. Prior to this I have worked with a couple of pretty good companies in the NCR region. Few months back before joining Xebia; nestled snugly inside my cubicle I was beginning to fall into a comfort zone. My quest for learning and finding new challenges brought me here and I noticed the difference right from the hiring process. I sort of worked in an agile company before but now I think I am living a 'agile lifestyle'. I have come to know that agile is not only about developing software but it can be a way of life and that's what differentiates Xebia from scores of companies out there.
I have just started my career with Xebia and I find myself contributing in hiring new talent, blogging about software testing, writing white papers, participating in conferences, interacting with experts in the field and all of it is in addition to the day to day challenges I face in my project assignments.
Xebia not only provides me an opportunity to work on the bleeding edge of technology but also provides a environment to maintain healthy work-life balance. Its open culture which is focused more on its people rather than organizational hierarchy acts as a perfect foil for development of individual traits like self-organization and knowledge sharing. I have discovered that working with Xebia is not only a job; its a career and you can shape it the way you want it as long as you have the desire to learn new things, take initiatives, make decisions and share knowledge with the people around you and as well as the community.
The Xebia logo "software development done right" says it all but I would like to extend it a bit and say that its "software development done right by a team of right people working in a right environment". Go team !
Xebia is a special kind of a company in many ways. Be it the kind of people it has, the kind of work-culture or the kind of learning opportunities present here. If I start looking for similar kind of companies in our country, I can count them on fingers.
I joined Xebia in August, 2007. My previous organization worked on the offshore-delivery model employing the waterfall model of software development. I was not looking for a job change when I first heard of Xebia from a head-hunter who called me one day and told me why I should join Xebia. I started looking at Xebia website, its blog site and so on. I was amazed to know about the quality of people it had, the quality of technical blogs the company blog website had and the core principles which Xebia followed and still following. I decided to switch my job and soon I was here.
What I like most about Xebia is it’s “people first” principle, which the company has consciously kept as the first principles among 3 others. I know that almost all company claim to follow this principle (and they do mention it in their job advertisements or the contract letter) but trust me, Xebia does follow it, and follow it with great heart.
Another thing which I just love here are the knowledge sharing sessions (XKEs) which are conducted every alternate week. Believe it or not, you can remain updated about all the latest happenings in the software industry without spending more than a couple of hours in a month, even if you are just bothered about your current project and deadlines, or just following your favorite area in software. And that’s not it; you have Xebia blog site and Xebia technical mailing list. You just shoot any kind of technical question – from a basic ‘hello world’ problem to the most challenging algorithm problems –I can bet on it that you will get an answer, if there is any. Knowledge sharing is such a fun here; you have to be here to believe me.
I have just joined my team in Netherlands since the project and type of work needed a collocated team, and I am so happy about it. Going abroad for work has always been my ambition and thanks to Xebia for letting me realize my dreams. I have come here for one year, and it is such a good feeling to work with such experienced group of people here. I plan to gain more expertise and craftsmanship in the work I do, and gradually switch my gear towards architecture and design kind of a work along with development, which is my first love and will remain ever. No doubt, I also have plans to see Europe as much as possible and as much as my pocket allows.
